weight loss camps
David Ettenberg: Owner/Director and my wife Ziporah and our kids Sam and Hannah. We want to introduce ourselves.

Since 1968, thousands of parents have entrusted us with their children. Let us show you why. You love and want the best for your child, just as we do for our own children. That's why we run an extraordinary camp. We're a camp that everyone is proud to be a part of - kids, parents and staff. We maintain high ethics and an overriding commitment to care. Our impressive facility, our superb, mature, adult staff and marvelous planning combine to provide the best camp experience you can find. Anywhere.
We make every camper part of the Camp Shane family. We get to know every camper. We visit the cabins, participate in the activities and talk with the campers. We create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and at home. Yes, we're a weight loss camp, but we're not obsessed with dieting.

Parents often think of camp as a place for games and physical skills and traditions. But camp is much, much more. It is a vital companion to school as part of your child's total education. Camp is the chance to do and experience things way beyond the walls of the classroom.

Camp Shane, is a caring community that provides emotional safety and a very warm environment for every child. As a result, our campers try out new positive behavior - they reach out to make new friends - as others reach out for them. We actually have campers practice expressing caring thoughts about others, and resolving problems among themselves. We help show our campers what bonds them together and this good feeling reinforces their own self-respect.

Does all this sound like something that doesn't happen for your child back home, particularly during the school year? This is why Camp Shane makes such a big difference for so many of our campers.

Does it sound too good to be true - Well, it's not!

The camp director is responsible for everything. A camp can be no better than its director. The commitment, positive attitude, love of the camp and campers filters down from the director. David Ettenberg has been the Director and owner of the Camp Shane property for thirty seven years. He has the skill, ability and knowledge - backed up by decades of experience - to provide the kind of mature judgment that you yourself would use. Sending your child to camp is a big decision. It's important for you to know that David is a man you can rely on!

David has a great sense of humor, high ideals, loads of ability and - as a result - the respect of the campers, staff and parents. He has designed and initiated at the camp a comprehensive set of initiatives that insure the camp is fun, safe, organized, and a caring.
