As a counselor and fitness instructor, Hannah Nash will spend the longest time she’s been away from her home in Dublin, Ireland at Camp Shane New York, a children’s weight loss camp.
At 19 years old, Hannah arrived Wednesday and will spend the whole summer leading campers and teaching aerobics, spinning and other fitness classes. This is her first summer at Camp Shane and she has already started the season with all smiles and excitement for each day.
“There is nothing like this in Ireland or Europe and the people who love it made me want to be a part of it,” she said. “I’m so happy to have the happiest and funnest time possible. I really think that it is going to be the most incredible summer and I can’t wait for people to become the happiest and healthiest versions of themselves, and amazing people.”
In school, Hannah’s favorite subject was physical education and biology. Along with playing sports, she is going into her second year in exercise and health science at the Waterford Institute of Technology in Ireland.
When it comes to fitness and nutrition, Hannah said that it is everything in her life.
“I really want to improve and change myself, and become better, get to know people from different countries,” she said. “When I am fit and healthy, I am the best version of me – it is my career goal; I am a big believer in ‘If you love what you do, then you’ll never work a day in your life’.”
Hannah will be among the large amount of counselors and staff arriving throughout the last week before Camp Shane New York starts.
