FAQ’S

Where is Camp Shane Texas located?

We are conveniently located in Texas Hill Country, San Antonio, and a highly desirable area. Camp Shane’s program is hosted at TMI, a prestigious boarding school with lovely grounds and top notch facilities. The school does not run classes during the summer so there are no students on the grounds when Camp Shane runs its program.  We run activities outside in the mornings, but when the weather gets hot, we go indoors as the facility is 100% air conditioned. This is the nicest location for a weight loss in the state of Texas! You would be hard pressed to find a better facility at any price.

How do you determine the fee?

We offer you the best program in the country a reasonable price. This is a first rate facility, with great staff, quality equipment and super activities.  You truly can pay as much as 40% more at a competitive camp, but you will not get a program half as good as Shane.

Where do your kids and counselors come from?

Most come from Texas and adjacent states. However, we have campers from all over the US and a few from overseas. Our staff 21+, USA residents only and excruciatingly selected from hundreds of applications.

Where do camper’s accommodations look like?

Our campers live in a variety of one story dorms. Our girl’s dorms are particularly beautiful with custom made furniture, polished granite bathroom counter tops and polished concrete floors.

How do you deal with homesickness?

It may surprise you, but we have little homesickness at Shane. We provide a warm, nurturing atmosphere, where everyone knows everybody’s name, and there is a tight knit community of campers and staff. Children flourish in our “home away from home,” where the environment is always encouraging and positive.

What medical facilities and staff are in camp?

Any prescription medication must be ordered through Camp Meds and will be distributed by an adult staff member. In the event of an illness, a camper will be taken to a nearby clinic that we have a relationship with, located only minutes from the school. In an emergency, the hospital is only 7 minutes away. We do not assume responsibility to dispense medications, but we work hard to ensure that there are no problems.
